The late 60’s marked the start of a solid and outstanding partnership between Rasamny Younis Motor Co. (RYMCO) and Nissan. The two legends in the automotive industry had 50 years of massive accomplishments, which fueled their relationship and made it one of the most successful stories to be told in the region.
To mark this milestone, a private dinner was held Septemebr 18 at Villa Boustany in the presence of Nissan representatives, RYMCO’s family, public figures and media.
50 years ago the five Rasamny brothers decided to invest in Lebanon and establish their own dealership. They introduced Datsun, Nissan’s fastest selling brand in the Lebanese market. The brothers opened Nissan’s state-of-the-art showroom in the 80s making the brand the star of Lebanon’s roads and the #1 in Lebanon in terms of sales, an achievement that stood out globally.
Fayez Rasamny, the 3rd generation of the Rasamny family to hold the position of CEO of RYMCO commented on the occasion, “Nissan-RYMCO’s partnership is reined by confidence and strength. Despite the unstable economic situation in Lebanon we managed to keep this tie strong and successful, and our sales figures are of great witness. ”He added: “We have contributed to the brands growth and we shall continue to sustain and grow our current performance. Over the years we have built a network of very loyal customers, and, we look forward to welcoming new customers in the years to come.”
Chairman of Nissan’s Africa, Middle East and India region, Peyman Kargar, commented: “Any relationship that lasts for 50 years is extremely special. Based on years of trust and a shared dedication to driving customer satisfaction, RYMCO has been instrumental in establishing Nissan as one of the top brands in Lebanon.
“I look forward to continuing our partnership in the years ahead and working jointly to bring the very best products and services to our customers.”
In 1998, RYMCO became the first automotive dealer on the Beirut Stock Exchange. Thanks to Nissan, RYMCO stayed in the lead for five consecutive years, maintaining the largest market share in Lebanon. Between 2009 and 2010, the company expanded its operations internationally to cover, Middle East, Africa and China.
2018 was a year packed with several milestones: RYMCO achieved the highest sales amongst all automotive dealers in Lebanon and Nissan sales grew by 21%, despite the market drop. Together they led the SUV sector.
50 years later, the Nissan-RYMCO journey continues. Fueled by passion, determination and ambition, the two companies are working on creating a new legacy, built on trust and driven by success.
