The Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) wrapped up the 25th edition of its long-running Students’ Workshops series, held virtually from October 20–22 under the theme “Paradox of Choice: Protecting the Present, Cultivating the Future.”

Celebrating a silver jubilee milestone, the programme gathered more than 400 students from 73 schools across the UAE for three days of sustainability-driven discussions, interactive sessions, and student-led projects aimed at promoting responsible environmental action.

“The EEG takes immense pride in shaping environmentally conscious future leaders through this platform,” said Habiba Al Mar’ashi, Co-Founder and Chairperson of EEG.

“Over the past 25 years, the workshops have nurtured purpose, responsibility and innovation among youth — proving that investing in young minds yields the greatest return for both society and the planet.”

Launched in 2001, EEG’s Students’ Workshops have grown into one of the UAE’s most enduring youth sustainability initiatives, engaging over 9,000 students and nearly 1,700 teachers from more than 1,700 schools to date.

The sessions are designed to strengthen environmental literacy and foster critical thinking and creativity among young learners — encouraging them to turn awareness into action within their schools and communities.

This year’s edition focused on aligning classroom dialogue with global sustainability priorities, connecting discussions to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), including Climate Action, Life on Land and Below Water, Sustainable Cities, and Responsible Consumption.

The workshops were tailored by age group — juniors (10–12), sub-seniors (13–15) and seniors (16–18) — and led by EEG’s in-house education team. Students explored practical ways to live more sustainably, debate ideas, and co-create solutions for a greener future.

The final day’s senior session featured a guest presentation from National Bonds, a corporate member of EEG, which introduced students to financial literacy through an engaging talk on “Conscious Spending.”

Now in its 25th cycle, EEG’s initiative continues to evolve with the times — combining education, community engagement, and environmental advocacy to empower a new generation of sustainability ambassadors in line with the UAE’s Net Zero vision.
