It’s time for Publicis Groupe’s much-awaited annual 'Wishes' and this year comes with a very special guest, none other than Snoop Dogg to deliver some good news.
Publicis Groupe is on track to become the world’s largest advertising holding company by the end of 2024, surpassing its closest competitor (namely WPP that has held the top spot for decades) for the first time in history – and marking a major milestone for a French company in the industry.
The advertising holding company is expected to be number one in terms of net revenue for the full-year 2024. Although the year hasn’t ended yet, figures project that the Groupe will indeed end up on top with around 13.9 billion euros, versus 13.5 billion euros for the nearest competitor, WPP.
Publicis brands include Saatchi & Saatchi, Leo Burnett, Publicis Worldwide, Publicis Sapient, BBH, Zenith and Starcom.
This announcement comes as part of a tongue-in-cheek tradition at Publicis, the annual "Wishes", a short film released at this time of year to highlight a significant event or trend.
This time, the end-of-year greetings' campaign humorously nods to this race for the #1 spot and features Snoop Dogg – the face of another major event of 2024, the Paris Olympics.
This is a spot on choice for a special guest who joins in with Publicis CEO Arthur Sadoun for the annual wishes. Indeed who better than Le Snoop, official Olympic hype man - and Maurice’s favourite rapper as it seems– to congratulate the Groupe’s teams on achieving a personal best in a record-breaking year?
“2024 was a remarkable year, and we have so many reasons to be proud. Thanks to you [and] your hard work, we had a strong growth, won a lot of new business, even Agency of the Year at Cannes,” Snoop Dogg opens the video.
To the Publicis staff Sadoun says, “Thank you for all of your Olympic effort this year.”
This is no simple apparition, as Snoop dives in in real Snoop fashion; he not only spreads cheer and good energy but also renames the annual tradition “The Wishzels” and replaces Publicis Groupe's famous Lion logo with…a dog!
Almost 3-minute long, this cool spot ends with a cameo appearance by Maurice Levy dancing, dressed in black, wishing everybody a happy new year, before breaking out into dancing to Snoop Dogg’s iconic and most financial hit 'Who Am I (What’s My Name)'?
