When comparison is not soComparative advertising is not allowed in Lebanon, which is why there are vague slogans such as "Master ta3mo atyab" (Master tastes better - implicitly "better than competing brand X"). Usually advertisers respect that part of the law, knowing that if one trespasses it, the other brands it represents become an easy target.
- Ramadan Advertising: Mine Eyes Have Seen the Lantern, but not the LightIf one looks at this year’s ads for Ramadan, and this year is neither better and nor worse than any other year, here’s the elements we see: a lantern in all shapes or forms, a moon in all its states (early, new, full, past-full), Arabic typography, Islamic arabesque motifs, a mosque (look closely and in one ad you will see the Taj Mahal instead), English rendition of the greetings (hello Dubai expats!).
