Registration is open for the 2024 Luum Awards, which will prove to be a special edition of the international creative festival!
This year, the Luum Awards, which recognizes the best of purpose-driven creative communications, will be launching an initiative that perfectly aligns with the festival’s mission statement: a Summit in Peru’s Sacred Valley.
This initiative seeks to raise awareness among the world's creative community and advertisers about a number of issues that require and could greatly benefit from our attention.
For this reason, Luum is launching an open invitation to industry professionals, whether or not they participate in this year’s Luum Awards, to join in for a special edition of the festival, which will start off with a day of volunteerism on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in Peru’s Sacred Valley. The Luum Awards dinner will take place the following evening, on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
Luum will volunteer with three different organizations, all visited and vetted by the Luum Awards.
The first, is with Niños del Arco Iris, a foundation that is transforming the lives of boys and girls from vulnerable situations, providing them with care, education and nutritious lunches.
The second is with VidaWasi, an organization that provides specialized pediatric health services to children from rural Andean communities that do no have easy access to treatments for maladies as complex as cancer, for example.
The third volunteer option is with El Proyecto Q´ewar, which generates sustainable jobs for Andean women in the Sacred Valley through the art of dolls-making.
The operative costs of the event, everything from event space, catering and lodging, woll go to VidaWasi, which is currently adding a wing for complex surgeries in its children’s hospital.
This unique proposal, reinvents the festival’s format. In order to attend the international conferences and partake in the Luum 2024 awards ceremony, attendees will be required to participate in one of the three volunteer experiences. Otherwise, they will not have access to the creative global festival the following day (November 7).
Meetings like this one, seek to inspire the world's communicators to produce more creativity in for a better world, to demonstrate with actions that advertisers can be agents of change.
Luum will continue to host an event at the Hilton Convention Center in Geneva (Switzerland), as it has done for the past three editions; however, this year, the event will be exclusively for Luum judges. In Geneva, the judges will select the top awards for the fourth edition of the festival.
In last year’s edition, 98 gold and silver medals (there are no bronze medals awarded in this format) were awarded, with VML named as the Network of the Year, followed by McCann in second place.
The Agency of the Year was VML HEALTH Spain, VML New York and VML São Paulo, which together presented the multi-award-winning campaign "Dogs Without Borders" for SFBO (FRENCH-BRAZILIAN SOCIETY OF ONCOLOGY).
The Independent Agency of the Year, was the surprising African firm X3M Ideas of Nigeria.
