Current Global MENAT, part of Middle East Communications Network (MCN), has hired Sinead O’Connor as Senior Director to help build the agency’s next phase of growth.
In her role as Senior Director, O’Connor will be responsible for agency leadership, service offering development including integration with MCN’s other agency brands, and strategic client counsel.
Current Global’s clients include Dubai Holding Entertainment, Heinz, Al Habtoor Motors, Five Guys, and New Balance.
Now in its second year, Current Global MENAT combines the global reach, strategic thinking and capabilities of a global agency with the attitude, speed and passion of a small and agile agency.
Having recently won PRCA MENA’s Small Agency of the Year 2024, and the MEPRA Small Agency of the Year 2023, the appointment of O’Connor is part of a robust business growth plan as the agency expands across the region.
Peter Jacob, Managing Director of Current Global MENAT, commented: “We launched Current Global MENAT in September 2022, and hired our first full-time employee a few months later. Since then, we’ve significantly increased headcount, worked with some of the region’s most loved brands, delivered award-winning campaigns, and been named as Small Agency of the Year by both the PRCA and MEPRA. But it really is only the beginning for us. Sinead brings a wealth of experience - both in working with global clients and growing high-performing agency teams - which fits perfectly with the vision for Current Global MENAT. We’re delighted to have her join the business.”
O’Connor added: “What the Current Global team has achieved in such a small space of time, is seriously impressive. The passion and energy coming out of the agency is infectious and it’s no wonder they’ve been so successful to date. As the business enters its next phase of growth, we will be raising the bar even further and redefining what an earned-first communications agency looks like in the Middle East. I’m very much looking forward to getting stuck in.”
O’Connor joins from Dubai-based boutique agency A Communications, which specializes in construction, government and technology clients.
Before relocating to the UAE in 2023, O’Connor spent most of her 15-year career to date in London, running UK and EMEA comms for global brands such as Google and YouTube at Nelson Bostock Unlimited. Whilst in this role, she established and grew an 11-strong dedicated in-house agency for Canon EMEA, which drove integrated comms and content.
In her role as Director, she was also DE&I lead, responsible for attracting, retaining, and nurturing diverse talent, and is passionate about making the PR industry more inclusive.
